The Science Fair was a big success. I am so proud of the Art Club participation. Here is a picture of Max Fowler, Shane Schenck and Mihir Patel (3rd graders) with their color inquiry on creating the pigment color 'peach'. Good Job!
I was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. I received a Bachelors of Science in Art with teaching certification (K - 12) from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and became a National Board Certified teacher in 2006. I have been an art teacher for 22 years and this is my 20th year at Williams Elementary School. I have had incredible experiences in my time at Williams with the best students, families, colleagues and some incredible art projects.” Outside of being a teacher I am also an artist specializing in pastels and acrylic painting.
I completed 3 University of Florida’s Lastinger Inquiry Research cycles and was a Lastinger Leader & Coach. I have been awarded several grants which helped fund innovative, cutting-edge art projects and after-school club activities for students. I co-wrote a curriculum guide for the Harn Museum of Art in collaboration with the School Board of Alachua County.
I believe that my extensive experience in the visual arts (as an artist and arts advocate) and in education (staying current with researched based teaching strategies/techniques as well as philosophy and policy) makes me a significant resource for the programming here at Williams Elementary School.
